Report Cards

A report card is an official record of a student’s academic progress.  Reports cards are issued for all students at CISH at least two times per year through Toddle (EY/PYP) or ManageBac (MYP/DP).  Report cards are generally meant for parents but can often be requested by outside agencies such as summer camps or other academic institutions who wish to know how well a student is progressing in his or her academic studies.  Report cards are generally not accepted as proof of academic achievement for admission into universities, which requires an official transcript.

Transcripts

For Middle and High School students, CISH maintains a permanent record of each student’s final marks earned at the end of the school year.  This record is called a “transcript.”

A transcript can be issued by the school on various occasions, i.e. applications for university, summer programs, scholarships, boarding schools, and other institutions to which a CISH student is applying.

There are two kinds of transcripts that CISH issues —official and unofficial.  An official transcript is one that is signed by a school official and has the official school stamp.  An unofficial transcript is one that is not signed and does not bear the school stamp. CISH students are welcome to request unofficial copies of their transcripts for their personal records or for submission to applications and programs that do not require official records. These unofficial transcripts will be marked as “unofficial,” making them unusable for official purposes.

To preserve the authenticity of the transcript and to protect the student from any potential misuse of the record, CISH sends official transcripts directly to the requesting university or institution.  Official transcripts (paper or scanned versions) are not given directly to students, family members, hired educational consultants/agencies, or other third parties.

Recommendations

Teacher and/or Counselor recommendations are sometimes needed for university, summer program, or other applications.  As with official transcripts, recommendations are sent directly to the requesting institution.  They are not given to students, parents, or other third parties.  Teachers will give recommendations to the requisite counselor to transmit or will upload them individually as required.
